Brock Zanrosso is a 15 year old up and coming musician out of Vancouver, Canada who is set to take the music industry by storm. Last summer he participated in and was a finalist on YTV’s The Next Star and now he is getting ready to debut his new single “Push the Walls” set to be released on January 19th. Brock was kind enough to take some time recently to not only discuss his new single with us, but also answer some of his fans burning questions such as what he’s jamming to on his iPod and what he looks for in a girl!
Hey Brock, thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions! Can you quickly introduce yourself for people who might be unfamiliar with you?
My name is Brock Zanrosso, and recently i was on a Canadian television show called The Next Star. Since then I have been working on continuing down the music path and am releasing a new single since the show which will be available Jan.19th.
When did you start singing?
Well, I have been singing since I could speak, but I never got the confidence to actually sing in front of people until the audition for The Next Star.
So, I had the awesome opportunity to meet and talk to you back in August while you were competing in YTV’s The Next Star – looking back now, what was your favourite part of that experience?
My favourite part of working on the show was learning so mane new things about the entertainment industry, as well as getting enough exposure to be approached by an amazing production company called HipJoint after the show.
Among all the cool things you got to do while being part of the show, one of them was working with Shawn Desman on your single “One More First Chance”, how was that?
Shawn was a very cool guy to work with, and he made the experience of co-writing my first song quite easy. It was a very comfortable atmosphere in the studio.
Do you have any advice for anyone who is interested in auditioning for the next season of The Next Star or any other talent competition?
I’d say do not let your nerves get the best of you, because I saw so many people go into audition looking so nervous that had really great voices, but the nerves just got the best of them. Just stay calm!
Being a finalist must have definitely changed your life and now you even have a new single called “Push the Walls” coming out soon, can you tell us about it/ describe the sound?
“Push the Walls” is quite a different sound than my first song “One More First Chance”. It’s very upbeat and fun, and it’s about having fun. I really hope the fans enjoy it.
Who/what are your musical inspirations?
Wow! That’s a tough question… It’s hard to choose! I really like the sounds of The Fray, Demi Lovato, Rihanna, Marianas Trench… etc. There’s so many!
If you had the chance to collaborate with any band or musician who would it be?
I think I’d like to collaborate with Adam Lambert, even though he’d completely show me up with his crazy skills… but I always get told I look like him, and his new album is great.
What’s currently the most played song on your iPod?
I don’t have any songs on my iPod because i recently dropped my phone in the sink and had to get a new one, with no music on it! But recently I’ve been listening to Ke$ha’s new album.
Also, a lot of your fans wanted to know – what do you look for in a girl?
HAHA! Well, of course I look for someone with a personality that I always want to be around. It also wouldn’t hurt if they were a fan of my music.
Any last words for all your fans?
Last words… Thank you guys so much for continuing to follow my career after the show ended and I really hope you guys pick up a copy of “Push the Walls” on Jan.19th. THANKS!
